Sean Conway
Ultra-Endurance Athlete and  Keynote Speaker

Sean turns impossible goals into evidence, proof that resilience, marginal gains and the discipline to keep going are skills you build, not traits you’re born with.
Sean Conway didn’t plan on becoming one of the world’s most accomplished endurance athletes. At 30, with no background in professional sport, he sold his share in a photography business for £1 and set off to cycle around the world. It was an audacious leap into the unknown and the beginning of a life built around pursuing goals that looked genuinely out of reach.

That ride changed something. Sean stopped asking “can I do this” and started asking “what’s the biggest version of this I could take on.” He became the first person to swim, cycle and run the length of Britain. He went further still with a 4,200-mile self-supported triathlon around the entire coastline of mainland Britain, alone, for months. Then in 2023 he pushed it to the limit, 105 consecutive days of Ironman-distance triathlons, a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle and full marathon every day, for over three months without a rest day.

Sean isn’t booked to talk about triathlons, the value is in the real-world insights on resilience, leadership and sustained performance that come out of completing some of the toughest challenges ever attempted. His experiences translate directly into how individuals and teams perform under pressure, navigate uncertainty and hold on to long-term goals when the day-to-day gets hard.

The story that actually changes the room is the one Sean didn’t plan for. Three weeks into a round-the-world cycling attempt in 2012, he was hit by a vehicle in the United States and fractured his spine. Even the best-laid plans don’t always survive contact with reality. The goal he’d trained a year for was gone, replaced by a body that couldn’t do any of what it used to. Most people would have stopped. Sean got back on the bike and covered 12,000 of the remaining 16,000 miles injured, rebuilding his pace, his method and his mindset from scratch.

It’s that moment audiences remember most, proof that resilience isn’t about never having a setback it’s about how fast you refocus once one hits. Sean speaks directly to the moments every audience recognises, the project that falls apart three weeks in, the plan that has to be rebuilt from nothing, the goal that still matters even when the route to it no longer exists.

Sean’s talks blend the extraordinary and hard-won stories about pushing the body somewhere it doesn’t want to go, alongside the funnier moments that come from months alone on the road, his trademark beard, grown to fend of Jelly fish stings. He takes audiences on a journey rather than reading out a list of achievements and that mix of jeopardy, humour and honesty keeps a room with him.

Audiences leave with practical, memorable takeaways on setting ambitious goals, building the consistency to see them through and refocusing fast when the plan stops working. It’s why Sean is booked across leadership offsites, change programmes, sales conferences and culture days, a working example of resilience, adaptability and sustained performance under real pressure.

What You Can Expect from Sean Conway

An extraordinary journey through ambition, adversity, adaptation and sustained performance.
The Journey
Sean takes attendees on a journey through extraordinary endurance challenges and the practical lessons learned along the way. Rather than simply presenting a list of achievements, he brings each expedition to life through moments of ambition, uncertainty, humour, adversity and reinvention.

The journey moves from the lighter realities of endurance, including growing his trademark beard in an attempt to stop jellyfish stinging him in the face, to the moments when the stakes became far more serious. Sean shares the low of being hit from behind by a vehicle in the United States mid challenge, fracturing his spine and having to rebuild his pace, his approach and his mindset when the original plan no longer existed.

Through honest storytelling, striking challenge footage and self-deprecating humour, Sean connects the extremes of adventure with situations every audience recognises, an ambitious target, a sudden setback, a changing environment and the need to keep delivering when motivation fades.
