Jon Desborough was one of the main sports presenter for Sky News, and was one of the regular presenters for the Sky One show Vroom Vroom.
His first job in broadcasting was covering cricket for his local radio station. He then presented ITV's World Rally Championship and it was this that, in 2002, led to a collaboration with Richard Burns on the rally driver's biography, Driving Ambition.
Jon fronted Channel 4's World Rally Championship 2002 - 2003 coverage and also presented and commentated on the championship when ITV held the rights in 2003 and 2004. This led to Jon being short-listed for the Royal Television Society's prestigious Sports Presenter of the Year award.
Jon has been hooked on the World Rally Championships ever since a knee-trembling co-drive with 2001 World Champion, Richard Burns and an equally revealing high-speed encounter with 1995 champion, Colin McRae.
Before rallying, Jon was a sports presenter at Sky News with an enthusiasm for motor sport, sailing and basketball (being 6' 5" tall gave him something of an advantage for scoring).
He has crewed a yacht on the BT Global Challenge Round the World Yacht race, broadcasting live from one of the boats each night for Sky, a performance that earned him a short listing for Sports Reporter of the Year at the Royal Television Society. Most recently he presented Channel 4`s coverage of the London Boat Show.
In 2011 Jon returned to presenting the World Rally Championships with ESPN.
Jon is an excellent awards host and MC, and delivers an after dinner talk on How Not To Make It In Motorsport.
