Grace Dent

Grace Dent is an acclaimed restaurant critic known for her witty and engaging style. She writes for The Guardian and regularly appears as a guest judge on BBC’s MasterChef. She also hosts Comfort Eating (The Guardian), a top-charting podcast that held the No.1 spot across all categories for four weeks.

While her critiques may seem intimidating to amateur chefs, Grace’s warmth and humour bring joy and light-heartedness to her work. Her best-selling memoir, Hungry (HarperCollins), reflects on her journey from growing up in a working-class family in Currock, Carlisle, to becoming one of the UK's beloved voices in food. The memoir is a nostalgic, relatable, and touching tribute, particularly in her honest portrayal of her father’s dementia.

Grace has also hosted several shows, including The World’s Most Expensive Buffet (Channel 5), Best of Britain by the Sea (Channel 4) with Ainsley Harriott, and The World Cook (Amazon Prime). She is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 2, especially on Christmas Day, and has received an ARIA nomination for The Untold (BBC Radio 4). Her popular Netflix series include Million Dollar Buffet (2022) and Greggs: What’s Really In It (2023).

Recognised as Best Food Critic in 2022 at the Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards, Grace’s memoir Hungry has won multiple accolades, and her latest book, Comfort Eating (2023), has received high praise from critics and readers alike.
