Richard gained valuable experience in hometown of Sheffield, presenting hospital radio for Sheffield Children's Hospital for eight years, as well as presenting on the hospital's television station.
During his college years, from 1992 to 1994, he studied media whilst also presenting a live children's programme for Meadowhall Television. He was also an avid participant in amateur dramatics.
From January 1996 until April 2000, Richard was the in-vision links presenter for CBBC. As well as giving him four years of live television experience, this afforded Richard the opportunity to pursue his love of the stage and to become involved in various charities including NCH, a children's charity.
He presented CITV's On Safari and has appeared in several pantomimes.
Dominic has achieved success both as a television presenter and as an award-winning member of the Magic Circle.In 1999, he became the first children's presenter ever to have two series running simultaneously on both the BBC and ITV. Then in 2002 Dom signed exclusively to CBBC as one of the main faces of the network.
Dom first appeared on television in 1996 on CBBC's Friday Zone and from this was asked to present the highly-acclaimed CBBC Broom Cupboard until 1998. In 1998 he secured his own series on CBBC called Animal Magic.
Dom has also presented two series of Jungle Run for CITV. This was the biggest game show ever made for the channel and was nominated for an RTS Award. He was a regular contributor on Fully Booked, FBi and Live & Kicking. He has also presented two series of CBBC's Hyperlinks and The Really Wild Show.
In 2001 Dom hosted the Christmas Shows at the Magic Circle in London and that year he launched his own range of magic products, all entitled Simply Magic. The Simply Magic video won the HEW Video Industry Award for the Best Children's Programming.
Dom regularly performed magic on various television programmes including Record Breakers, where he achieved the world record for the most amount of card tricks performed in one minute.
His magical talents are substantial and his prestigious achievements include a straitjacket escape on Houdini's birthday. His magic accolades include British Magical Champion 1998; World Record for Card Tricks 1998; IBM Shield for Sleight of Hand 1996; Young Magician of the Year 1995 and Junior Reading Day Champion 1994.
Dom is also an author. His first children's novel is 'Dom and the Magic Topper'.
Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood are a double BAFTA Award winning children's TV presenting duo, best known for 'Dick and Dom in da Bungalow' - a children's entertainment show that went out live on weekend mornings on BBC1, CBBC and later BBC2. The show ran for five series between 2002 and 2006 and was a massive hit.
